Friends!! I’m back!!
I am so, so excited to be back behind a mic again and sharing with you all! It has been waaay too long!
So, as you probably heard on my last episode of season 1, I decided to rebrand the podcast. Little did I know quite how work that would entail! However, all in all, it’s been a wonderful process and dreaming up dozens of new ideas to implement on the podcast and on my blog has been such fun! It did take me a good deal longer I’d anticipated (initially I’d intended to do all the work of rebranding in two weeks…that quickly turned into two months ha!).
And yet, this lovely break has allowed me to see so much that I think I couldn’t have seen otherwise.
For example, even though I was not pumping out episodes for quite some time, people continued to be blessed by my episodes. It was absolutely heartwarming to see how God took my words and reached people in ways I didn’t even imagine at the time of creating these episodes.
A second thing that I noticed was that I had spent so much time creating the episodes and trying to make them “perfect” that I continually lived in a perfect storm of constantly creating content! It simply wouldn’t be sustainable and certainly didn’t allow me to do everything I wanted to do, such as create blog posts for the episodes, freebies, and tools to help you all take a next step.
So that has led me to change a couple things about this podcast, after a great deal of prayer and brainstorming.
Change #1: Releasing per season & weekly
I’ll be brutally honest: I love podcasting and creating content, but it can be exhausting. It will probably become far, far easier when I can hire a team to help me edit and produce the episodes, but until then, doing it all myself without breaks is simply not sustainable.
So I’ve adopted a seasonal model where I’ll release a certain number of episodes per season and then take a short hiatus and release another set of episodes. It’s been so much easier for me to consistently create beautiful content without the constant pressure of needing to release something.
So I’ve been batch creating these episodes during the last two months and I am so excited for the topics we’re going to cover! But before diving into that, I’d love to talk about change #2, because it’s very closely related to the topics we’ll explore in season 2.
Change #2: New Podcast Name
As you probably noticed at the beginning of this episode, I’ve rebranded the podcast!
I did love the Live. Give. Repeat. Podcast concept, I truly did. But as I looked over my listeners and the lovely people I’d invited onto my podcast, I realized they all had one thing in common, every single one of them: they all loved to write and read. Every single one of them.
I don’t know how or why it took me so long to realize this. I initially started my podcast as something to reach everyone. Yet, I slowly realized that I was robbing myself of content (and losing sleep) because I was so afraid of releasing something that wouldn’t suit everyone. But after all, nobody can ever fully please the whole world and give fully.
So I decided to niche down. It took a couple of tries but I’ve finally settled on the name of this podcast: Her Reading Life Podcast. Now, obviously, it won’t only touch on topics related to reading (even I get tired of that!) but I will focus more on reading and writing, always with the object of helping others live, give and repeat more and more fully. I’ll be covering topics like:
How to read those challenging books you always wanted to read and a list of my favorites
How to do more with less time and why it’s crucial if you want to be successful
My ultimate tips for creating a writing habit
My new approach for appreciating every season God gives us and blessing others
And so much more!
If you’ve noticed, pretty much every single one of those topics still reflects the “live, give, repeat,” philosophy from my original concept, but it’s tailored to serve you, my audience, better. And as always, I am always so delighted to hear your feedback, what you liked, what you didn’t like, ideas for how I can improve. Another little change that I’d like to mention while I’m at it is that I’m adding more solo episodes! I hadn’t actually done many for several reasons in the previous season, 1) because at the time I started the podcast, I couldn’t read or write, much less do more than basic editing, and 2) because I really wanted to use podcast to be able to network with others. And by God’s grace, the Lord absolutely blew me away with all the beautiful friendships and relationships that grew out of that experience!
However, this isn’t to say I’m completely ditching my chatty episodes. I have about as many planned with guests as without! You’ll hear from fellow podcasters, authors, artists and more as we discuss everything from our our top three transformative books to storytelling with Instagram to favorite ways to study the Bible when you’re short on time.
I am so excited to let you all in to all the delightful episodes I have to share with you and hope they bless you as much as they have me. I’ll be honest, I have prayed, cried, and even laughed over these episodes as I worked on them and I pray they inspire you and grow you even a fraction of the way they have me.
So friends, until next week, continue to live, give, and repeat!
