5 Must-see cozy spots in Winter park/Orlando

I live in the vacation capital of the World, right next to Disney World. Tourism drives my city. I’m not kidding when I say that the Great Mouse is everywhere.

And friends, I love this.

I love the fact that I get to meet people from so many countries. I love the fact that I get to see friends and family more often than I would ever be able to otherwise.

But every so often, I get tired of all the touristy things and ache for some brick and mortar homey, historical places.

So, if you thrive on going to all the non-touristy places and happen to stop by Central Florida, definitely go to Park Avenue in Winter Park. It’s a long, delightful street lined with endless boutiques and sweet restaurants where you can spend a day in restful, artistic bliss.

Here are some of my favorite places in Winter Park that I visited with my lovely sister that day:

1. CFS Coffee

I love this sweet and quaint Colombian Coffee Shop. As a Latina at heart with an Ecuandorain mom, I thrive on South American soul-food. Every time I step into that place, I feel like my heart receives a hug.

It has a delightfully handcrafted feel; The chairs are all made of wood, and on one wall they have seats built into the wall with pillows. You will feel transported to Latin America every time you go.

But you can’t leave without tasting their delicious Coconut Lemonade - it is delicious beyond description and hits the spot on a sultry Florida afternoon.

2. Adjectives Market

Think of going to a Victorian travel writer’s house for the first time and you will get a very accurate picture of what it’s like to enter this lovely shop!

From candles, to couches, to rugs, this store has a delights in every corner. I always love popping in here to take a peek at the Jewelry and their lovely art.

3. Pottery Barn

This Pottery Barn is an interior design masterpiece all its own. The couches and furniture are breathtaking, but the view from the second story is absolutely worth the climb! You can see all the stores from their enormous window and seated in their beautiful couches facing the street.

4. Writer’s Block Bookstore

This is an absolute gem! Doubling as a coffee bar in the back and a bookstore in front, this bookstore has the most delightful picks, complete with handwritten tags from the people who work at the store with recommendations over their favorite books.

I found some delightful, hard-to-find books here like Spanish Literature translated into English, as well as some C.S. Lewis and absolutely loved their Banned Book section.

5. Charles Hosmer Morse Museum

This museum has a very special place in my heart because I visited it for the first time on my 17th Birthday. They have a permanent collection of gorgeous Tiffany lamps and Stained windows, but also have a wonderful rotating collection of American art which are always a treat!

Definitely do not miss! They have certain days and hours where they do give free admission, which you can find on their website.

Hope you enjoyed reading this, friends!

What are some of your favorite spots in your area? I can’t wait to hear!
